Mordaunt Shairp wrote the play in 1933 and amazingly the censor passed it. But what is the point of Tim Luscombe’s revival if it is not set in its correct period and Richard Stirling, already seriously miscast as a rich and middle-aged dilettante, then plays him as merely camp when he should be repellent and evil?
