Many people these days have found that an easy way to make money is by putting in dodgy insurance claims and living handsomely off the winnings. It is lawyers, with their offer of “no win/no fee”, who have actively encouraged this dishonesty. Nick Payne was inspired to write his play when he sat in at a county court and was amazed at how farcically badly claimants lied under oath. His leading characters are two impoverished lawyers who specialize in such cases. Daniel Mays is the shifty one. Nigel Lindsay is the more honest of the two. Marc Wootton is very funny as a false claimant involved in a fake car accident. A loudmouthed ignoramus, he cannot say a single sentence without swearing.
